How to Use Stretcher Bars

How to use stretcher bars:

Connect the bars (as shown in the video) so that they line up with the size of your canvas. Place your canvas on top of the wooden bars and then use brass tacks to attach the canvas to the bars.

Why should I use stretcher bars?

Stretcher bars are a great tool for stitchers who would like their canvas to remain taut while stitching. Bars can prevent warping of the canvas when used correctly, which can also alleviate the need for blocking (or straightening) the canvas during the finishing process. Stretcher bars are also great if you plan to do any intricate work such as beading, because the frame can be attached to a stand allowing you to use both hands!

What size stretcher bars do I need?

You will want to measure your canvas or refer to the canvas size (not image size) on the product detail portion of the website. If your canvas size is 5 x 7 you would want to order a pack of 5" and a pack of 7" bars. If your canvas is 5.5" x 7.5" you would also still want to order the 5" and 7" bars as if the bars are too big the canvas won't be able to be tacked down to them!
